What Makes a Restaurant Romantic?

What makes a restaurant romantic? Dim lighting, privacy, a special entrée? I prefer a place that is not overly dressy or expensive and does not leave you super stuffed. (& dim lighting too please!)

Sushi & Saki at Zenkichi looks just about perfect for me. oooh, those private, wooden booths look sooo romantic. hmmm, maybe a good reason to move to Brooklyn!

Barclay Prime

My husband and I had dinner with his boss and fiance on Saturday night. We went to Barclay Prime and it was fantastic. John had a huge porterhouse, and I had the red snapper. We ordered several appetizers including oysters, ceviche and shrimp cocktail. The popovers and sauteed mushrooms were especially delicious! I also enjoyed a dirty martini and a delicious glass of California chardonnay.

The top photo is the main dining area. The room is much darker and lit with candles and chandeliers for dinner. The white leather dining chairs are so comfortable -we actually sat for over 3 hours! The bottom photo is the lounge/bar area.

Mini Pies

are cupcakes already out of style?… because mini pies seem to be the new trend. it sounds like a fun idea to meet up at the pie shop for a cup of coffee, a mini pie (i’d choose Plum Crumble), and some good conversation Pie Spot is located in Portland, Oregon. a little far for me to travel, but it looks like it may be worth it! YUM!
